There is nothing quite like a good book. The experience can take you anywhere in space and time without even leaving your couch. Books can be a place to learn or a place to forget. Personally, I love to read whenever I get the chance. However, working full-time, parenting, being a college student and having fibromyalgia is already quite a plate full. I find it hard to read for pleasure while taking classes. In between semesters is when I try to get in as much reading as I possibly can. Here is what I have been reading (in my spare time, lol).
These books are in no particular order and to be honest most I have read within the last year. I have added an Amazon affiliate link to each book. As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases. There is no obligation to do so. I have purchased all the books listed and the opinions are my own. That all being said, I do hope you consider supporting the authors as they are self-published.
Fiction Books By Amazing New Authors
Letting Go by Charity Jackson
I loved this book and it is a quick read, mostly because you can’t put it down. This is about a man and a woman who cross paths and both have some letting go to do. I’ll let you read about what brings them together. This is one of those books that you just immediately connect with the characters and you cannot wait to see where their story will go next.
Little Eden by KT King
This is an interesting story that also includes a character with chronic fatigue syndrome. The story is told from multiple points of view, which is hard to pull off. The author does a good job at making me want to find out what happens next. This is all about the town of Little Eden and the residents. It seems the town and the world as we know it is at risk and this group of friends step up to save everyone. If you like this book there is a second book out in this series.
Nowhereland by Maddie Kopecki
This book is set in a small town and follows a girl and her best friend. We see the real-life struggles of love, friendship, loss and growing-up. The author does a great job representing those that struggle with mental illness and the people that love them. I do admit I am biased because the author is my niece. However, I truly believe you will enjoy this book and have a hard time putting it down.
Another Sunrise by Charity Jackson
I have to admit this author has a way of making me close the book very soon into reading. Not because I don’t want to keep reading, but because I know I’m going to love it and cry at the same time. So, I close the book and my eyes, take a deep breath and then keep reading. I have not been disappointed yet. This story starts with domestic abuse, which is difficult and tragic for many families. There is beauty in the main character’s journey to find her own strength. In the process she finds love that was always there, and the healing really begins. *Charity Jackson has a website where you can learn about all her projects.
Non-Fiction Books By Amazing Authors
I am one of those people that love to learn. I enjoy reading non-fiction books to learn more about subjects, especially psychology. My biggest problem like I mentioned above is having the time to actually finish a book. The list below are books that I either have read or are still trying to finish. The fact that I haven’t finished them has no bearing on the quality of the book.
Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky
This book is really good at taking complex science type concepts and explaining them so I can understand. Sapolsky uses humor and his real life throughout the book. I appreciate his sense of humor while I try to understand the concepts of how our body processes stress. This really is the good, the bad and the ugly of it all. Some may find it a hard read, but I urge you to keep reading. This may just be how my mind works, but I love to understand what is going on in my body. Especially, since stress seems to be a trigger for fibromyalgia flares. The funny story about this book is that I bought it and then my next psychology class required it as the textbook.
The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology that Fuel Success and Performance at Work by Shawn Achor
I have a deep love for positive psychology and will read anything that has to do with it. Through all my studies I have found that one’s mindset really makes a huge difference in behavior. This is a book that am about halfway through, but life keeps happening. I will say that these concepts are easy to read and understand and put into use in your own life. Honestly, Achor makes complete sense and gives the reader the tools to make real change in their own life. *Book shown in ad is another edition*
My Reading List
As you can see, I love all types of books. I would say anything with romance and adventure are the best. Yet, I could sit down with good book on psychology and be content as well. There is nothing like cuddling on the couch with a cup of coffee, a blanket and good book. I have a habit of making lists of books that I want to read, and I hope that one day I will have the time to really start making a dent in that list.
I am not a book blogger, just a book lover.

So, from time to time I will do these round-up lists of what I have been reading, but don’t expect to see full articles for one book. Let me know what you think I should put on my reading list next in the comments.
